Roseville, CA - (September 25, 2010) - All American Speedway's Open Show brought exciting racing Saturday night in Roseville. 2010 NASCAR Whelen Late Model champion Matt Scott, after getting caught up in a wreck in the first laps of the race, was able to go on and win the 75-lap Late Model feature race.
"We got a fender rub right when the 05 and 50 wrecked," Scott said. "I saw the smoke coming up. They red-flagged the race, which really helped us in the long run. We came back out on the track and I didn't want to be cocky, but I told my team this one is ours. The team worked hard back in the pits this whole season. We came out here looking for a win and we got one."
At the green flag, Jason Fensler took the lead. On lap eight, Eric Schmidt took the lead and then he and Mike David got in to each other pretty hard coming out of turn four, and Scott was hit hard on the right side during the melee. On the restart, Schmidt and Fensler made hard contact going in turn three, ending up in the wall and bringing out another caution. Fensler dropped oil around three-quarters of the track which brought out a red flag. Scott went to the pits, and Fensler went to the pits ending his night. Schmidt also pitted with no right side, and David pitted.
The lineup on the restart was Jonathan Mawhinney, Cameron Haley, Andrew Murray, Michelle Nagai, Brian Hickey, Schmidt, David, and Scott. Schmidt exited off the track on lap 10 with problems from his previous wreck and that ended his night.
Schmidt raced extremely aggressively during the first laps of the race, as did David and Fensler.
On lap 17 Scott was up to second, followed by Haley. On lap 23, Scott took the lead when Mawhinney went high between turns one and two. Nagai and David get together spinning Nagai. Both are sent to the rear.
On the restart, Scott and Mawhinney racing side by side with Scott getting the edge and leading for the rest of the race to take the checkered flag. Mawhinney was second, Hayley third, Nagai fourth and David fifth.
Bill McAnally Racing had some interesting things going on for the race. Hayley, from Canada, is just 14 years old, and Andrew Murray, driving the No. 18 BMR car is only 13. McAnally also brought out the KCRA channel three car with Hickey behind the wheel, giving Hickey some practice laps before the media race during the K&N Pro Series West, SRL Spears Southwest Tour race weekend at AAS on October 16.
Scott Winters took the checkered flag in the 60-lap Modified race. Jason Philpot led from lap 12 until lap 39, before Winters got around him and led the last 20 laps. Jinkerson finished third, Rich Lindgrem fourth, and Mikey Regelmen was fifth.
"After a strong season in 2010 and winning the Modified Championship, it's always just fantastic to back it up with the Open Show," Winters said. "Everyone gets to come out and experiment with different things and the rules are a little more open. Jason [Philpot] is strong every week. He gave us a run for our money tonight, but once we got the lead we could pull away."
Mickey Owens dominated the Street Stock race and won the 35-lap feature race. After leading laps five and eight, he took the number one position for good on lap 12. The 2010 Street Stock champion from Ukiah, Terry Pittman was in the show and in the early laps gave Owens a run for the money. On lap 21, Pittman spun hard bringing out a caution, and Pittman had to be towed off the track. Rick Poppert and Sammy Solari put on some great side-by-side racing with Solari getting ahead of Poppert for second. Solari could not get to Owens and had to settle for second. Poppert finished third, Wayne Crossland fourth, and Travis Henry finished fifth.
There was some exciting racing in Bombers with rookie Matt Camp getting the victory. Keith Hopkinson led from lap two until lap 21, and then Camp got into first and led the last four laps to take the checkered flag. Hopkinson finished second, Eric Bocksberger third, and Jill Schmidt fourth.
"It was a fun race," Camp said. "It feels good. My first Open Show and I won. We had some good competition and we did a little bit of bumping, but tried to keep it clean. Everybody was a good sport about it. We were trying to make it a little entertaining." Camp said he plans on competing in more Open Shows, then come back next year and race at AAS again.
On Saturday, October 16, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West and the SRL Southwest Tour race will be held at All American Speedway. A local media race will also be held at the event, featuring local radio and television stars making up the field. 2009 defending champion Brian Hickey will again pilot the number 3 KCRA car in hopes of winning again. CAREER NIGHT IN USAC FORD FOCUS MIDGET FOR 15 YEAR OLD WALMER
PORTLAND, OREGON (September 14, 2010) – In one of the most impressive performances this year for a Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle driver, 15 year-old Keegan Walmer of Portland, OR nearly swept all three USAC features on Saturday at Stockton 99 Speedway.
The second year member of the RSWC team drove his Reser’s Fine Foods-sponsored Midget to victories in the USAC Young Guns Midgets main and the first of the USAC Focus Midgets Twin 40’s presented by Star Racing Supply. Walmer followed up the win in the first 40 lapper with a second place effort in the second 40.
Walmer opened up the afternoon by setting the fast-time in the USAC Ford Focus Midgets with a time of 13.607 seconds around the speedway.
After taking the fast-time, Walmer went on a tear by winning both the heat race and the trophy dash in his black and blue #24.
12 cars took the historic quarter-mile asphalt oval for the first 40 lap main, with Walmer starting sixth. With some early race shuffling, Walmer slid back to ninth place.
After the wild start, Walmer became a man on a mission, moving into third by lap 11. Walmer passed his teammate Cody Thompson for second on lap 19 and went to work on the leader. A nice battle ensued before Walmer took over the lead on lap 31.
Walmer maintained a large lead over Thompson to win by 1.3 seconds at the finish.
With $500 on the line for a possible sweep of the twin races, a full invert was pulled to put Walmer at the back of the field for the second 40. Walmer navigated the field carefully and took over fifth by lap 14. On lap 29 he took over third, and then second on lap 37.
Walmer began to chip away at Thompson’s lead but could not close in, settling for an excellent second place run.
The efforts kept Walmer fourth in the championship points standings with three races to go. Walmer is just 34 points out of first place in the tightly contested battle.
Not only did Walmer finish first and second in the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series, he also won his heat race in the USAC Young Guns Midgets. In the feature, Walmer took the lead on lap nine and led the final 11 laps to the win. The victory marked Walmer’s fifth of the season in the Young Guns and places him just 13 points out of the championship.
“Keegan has put together many wins in the Young Guns and Stockton is one of his favorite tracks,” driver coach Ron Sutton said. “But Keegan sent a statement to the entire Ford Focus series that he is a force to be reckoned with! His runs on Saturday night were nothing short of impressive!”
Up next for Keegan Walmer will be the October 9th race at Orange Show Speedway before the USAC Ford Focus Midgets Nationals at Las Vegas Bullring on November 6. Drivers compete for the Henry Ford Sweepstakes Trophy at the ultra-competitive three-eighths mile track. A large roster of drivers from across the country are expected.

WHITE SCORES FOURTH POLE IN FIGHT FOR USAC YOUNG GUNS MIDGET TITLE
EUREKA, CALIFORNIA (September 14, 2010) – Despite moving up to the USAC Ford Focus Midget division, 13 year-old Brandon White has not lost sight of his early season goal of winning the USAC Western Pavement Young Guns Midget championship.
The Eureka, Calif. Member of the Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle program drove the Northcoast Lighting & Electric, Inc. Midget to a USAC Young Guns Midget Series pole and trophy dash win on Saturday night at Stockton 99 Speedway.
White’s fast-time in qualifying was his fourth of the 2010 campaign to go along with many Trophy Dash, heat race and main event wins. The driver’s resume in the Young Guns division this season was enough to boost him into the full USAC Ford Focus Midgets in July, making him one of the youngest drivers in that series in the entire country.
In Young Guns time trials, White ran a 14.189 second lap around the historic quarter-mile asphalt oval in Stockton, Calif. After finishing second in the heat race, White turned his attention to the trophy dash. In one of the most competitive races in recent memory, White fought off teammate Keegan Walmer in a thrilling duel.
White led all four laps for the victory but by just .091 seconds. In the 20 lap USAC Young Guns main event, White started fourth and ran well in the tightly bunched field. A fourth place finish kept White in the points lead in both the USAC NorCal Young Guns Midget Series and also the USAC Western Pavement Young Guns championship.
Not only did White participate in the Young Guns activities but he also competed in the USAC Ford Focus Midget Series twin 40s presented by Star Racing Supply. White recorded the best qualifying effort of his career with a fifth place run at 13.732 seconds, just missing the Trophy dash by just .001 of a second. In fact, only .004 separated qualifiers two through five.
White competed in just the first 40 on the card, but made the most of it by running as high as fourth before taking home a solid sixth place finish.
“This was a critical weekend for Brandon in his championship run,” Team Manager Randy Chastain said. “Brandon ran a brilliant qualifying lap in the Young Guns Midget but also showed his speed in the Ford Focus Midget.”
Brandon White Racing will run the October 9th race at Orange Show Speedway before the huge USAC Ford Focus Midget Nationals at the Las Vegas Bullring, on November 6th. Drivers will be jockeying for their place on the Henry Ford Sweepstakes trophy and the National Championship crown.

THOMPSON CHARGES INTO VICTORY LANE IN USAC FORD FOCUS MIDGETS
FREMONT, CALIFORNIA (September 14, 2010) – 17 year-old USAC rookie Cody Thompson continued his impressive development as an asphalt racer by winning the second of two USAC Ford Focus Midget Series main events on Saturday night at Stockton 99 Speedway.
Driving for Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle, Thompson almost won both races in the USAC Focus Midget Twin 40’s presented by Star Racing Supply.
The evening kicked off with Thompson qualifying his Southern Rock-sponsored entry second fastest, with a time of 13.728 seconds around the historic quarter-mile oval.
A strong win in heat race two set up the field for the first 40 lap feature. Thompson rolled off the grid fifth out of the 12 cars on hand, but quickly went to the front. Thompson sliced his way to second by lap six.
After falling to third on lap 19, Thompson followed teammate Keegan Walmer back to the front of the field and took over second on the final lap of the race.
The second place finish lined up Thompson second-to-last in the second race after a full inversion.
In an amazing performance, Thompson was up to third place by just the sixth lap. Going after the leaders, Thompson paced himself slightly before making the big move for the lead on lap 14.
With still 26 laps to go, Thompson ran a smooth and consistent race to win the feature by nearly two seconds.
The win and second place finish move Thompson into third in the USAC NorCal Ford Focus Midget Series, just 24 points out of first place with two three races to go.
Thompson also participated in the USAC Young Gun Midget races and finished second in the 20 lap main event.
“It was only a matter of time for Cody to get his first Focus Midget win to go along with his Young Guns Midget wins,” Driver Coach Ron Sutton said. “But not only did Cody get the win, he did in dramatic fashion by coming from the back of the field. This kid put on a show and turned some heads!”
Cody Thompson Racing will compete in the October 9th race at Orange Show Speedway with a month off before the USAC Ford Focus Midget Nationals at the Las Vegas Bullring, on November 6th. Drivers will be jockeying for their place on the Henry Ford Sweepstakes trophy and bragging rights to the National Championship crown.

The Harvest Classic Features Top Talent
Tanner Swanson will join big brother Cody Swanson during the Harvest Classic 410 Super Modified race at the Madera Speedway this Saturday night. Point leader Jim Burges will have to strut his best stuff if he wants to be King of the Harvest Classic as this event promises to be the strongest Super Modified race seen at the Madera Speedway in some time.
Tanner will be in the number 56 Silsby Super Modified owned by Tom Joyce, as a foot note Tom is in Afghanistan working as an American contractor. Cody Swanson will pilot the 72 Super Modified owned by Lance Tatro, and this has been a very powerful combination in the Super Modified series.
Jim Burges will race his pink 32 Super Modified, now many fans have wondered why such a tough guy like Burges would drive a pink race car, especially a pink 410 fire breathing, blistering fast Super Modified? Well the answer is the race car is painted this way to support the Pink Show. What is the Pink Show you ask?
Jim Burges states, “The Pink Show is a benefit concert which raises money to support local women with cancer, and we are helping promote the Pink Show by incorporating a "Racing for the Cure" event which culminates at the September 18th race at Madera Speedway.” Check out the website at www.thepinkshow.com.
In addition to the three above mentioned open wheel super stars, the rumor mill is buzzing about the possible return of Super Modified Legend Troy Regier. Several out of state drivers have communicated they will make the trip for the Harvest Classic as well.
Also note worthy, a new “Open 360” combination has been introduced in which 360 drivers will have more horsepower and lighter weight cars to better compete with the 410 supers.
The Swanson boys could not stop with the Supers when Midgets are also on the card for the Harvest Classic; both are scheduled to compete in the BCRA Midget race on the same night! They will have to be on top of their game to outrun Chad Nichols and David Prickett and the rest of the BCRA boys and girls to take the Midget Harvest Classic title home this Saturday night.
The LunkerDaddy Late Models are also a part of this big racing weekend as they do battle in what will be the second to last point’s race of the year. Matt Erickson, Ray Mayer, Elliot Stjerne, CJ Dizney, Howard Holden Jason Agguire and the rest of the LunkerDaddy pack will display some of the closest wheel to wheel battling a fan will ever see.

SCOTT CAPS CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WITH ANOTHER LATE MODEL WIN
PINE GROVE, CALIFORNIA (September 14, 2010) – 18 year-old Matt Scott spent no time resting on his laurels as the newly crowned champion of the Late Model division at All American Speedway, by winning the first of the twin 44 lap features on Saturday night.
Scott clinched the division title on September 4th with a main event win in the 75 lap feature.
On Saturday night, the youngest All American Speedway Late Model champion ever set a new track record qualifying time of 13.650 seconds. The time was nearly one-tenth quicker than the second place car and sent a strong statement to the 16 car field on hand.
After pulling an invert of eight, Scott rolled off eighth on the grid for the first 44 lap feature. Scott moved into the top-five within the first eight laps, and passed Gary Glenn for second on lap 28.
With Scott’s car coming in to him during the long green flag run, he began to reel in the leader Juan Pitta.
The first caution of the race flew on lap 37 which put Scott alongside Pitta for the double-file restart. Scott had a great restart on the outside and took off to lead the final seven laps for the win.
The victory is Scott’s eighth of the 2010 season and 12th in his career.
A four car invert placed Scott fourth on the grid for the second feature. By lap four, Scott was up into second and challenging race leader Zane Lovelace, Jr. On lap nine, Scott and Lovelace raced side-by-side with Scott taking the lead on lap 10.
The yellow flag came out on lap 16, which set the stage for a thrilling back-and-forth battle between Scott and Lovelace. Lovelace took over the lead but not after several side-by-side battles.
On lap 31, Scott came back at Lovelace for another side-by-side duel. The duel ended on lap 37 when they made contact and Scott spun.
“I squeezed him just a little bit and it was just a racing incident,” Scott said. “You come out here knowing stuff can happen.”
In a wild final seven laps, Scott managed to pick off cars one-by-one to make his way from the back of the field to finish fifth.
“(Coming back to fifth) really shows you how good that car was,” Scott said. “I can’t thank my crew enough.”

Champions Crowed at RAR
The final points race of the season for the five local divisions came
and went this past Saturday night at Eureka, California’s Redwood
Acres Raceway. In addition to champions being crowned, the event held
a special air as it was the annual memorial night at the 3/8-mile
paved oval facility, coinciding with the ninth anniversary of the
events that occurred on September 11, 2001.
Going into the night, the points race for the mini stock track
championship was already locked up by the brother combination of Scott
and Craig Baker. Craig Baker was behind the wheel of the car this
night and took the win in the trophy dash over Brian McIntosh, Brian
Murrell and Brian Murrell, Jr. Due to the car count, the division had
to forego a heat race and ran a 10-lap main event. Baker had issues
from the drop of the green flag and fell out of the event. McIntosh
briefly took the lead but got loose off turn two allowing Murrell, Jr.
to take the win. A brief caution flag served as a delay to Murrell,
Jr’s victory celebration as he was able to take the main event victory
ahead of his father, Murrell, Sr., Ken Barrett and McIntosh.
Ryan Walters won the real stock trophy dash over Steve Kimberling,
Casey Mitchell and Ryan Robinson. Bill Middleton’s night was ended
prematurely in the heat race when Nick Green pushed Middleton going
into turn one. Middleton jumped on his brakes in attempt to slow down
but was unable to as he hit the wall hard ending his night. Mitchell
took the heat race victory ahead of Kimberling, Robinson, Doug Way and
Matt Simon. Green took the race lead in the early stages of the main
event. Mitchell proved to be the fastest car on the track but had to
maneuver through the field before finally getting to the second spot
with eight laps remaining in the 20-lap feature. Mitchell closed in
with three laps remaining but could not mount a charge to get by
Green. At the checkered flag it was Green winning over Mitchell,
Robinson, Kimberling and Jim Redd. Mitchell was crowned the 2010 real
stock champion.
Raleigh Willoughby claimed the track championship in the roadrunner
division just by showing up to the track. Willoughby went on to win
the trophy dash over Nick Hansen, Robbie Nelson and Dax Kinsey.
Nelson took the win in the heat race over Hansen, Kinsey, Kolby
Jackson and Willoughby. Jackson held the lead at the start of the
roadrunner main event while the faster cars tried to maneuver through
traffic to get to the front. Hansen had power issues and pulled his
car behind the wall on the second lap of the event. At the same time
Hansen had his issues, Kinsey and Nelson got together on the back
stretch resulting in Nelson getting a flat tire and the caution
flying.
Kinsey was sent to the rear and the race restarted with Jackson
leading brand-new father, Michael Lawrence on the restart. Willoughby
looked poised to capitalize on his championship win with a main event
win on the night as he got by Lawrence on lap 12. Willoughby worked
on Jackson until finally finding the inside line coming off turn two
on lap 16 to take the lead. The caution flew on lap 20 when Nelson
spun Kinsey on the front stretch. Nobody was able to touch Willoughby
after the restart and at the checkered flag it was Willoughby winning
over Jackson, Lawrence, Tim Abeyta and Kinsey.
Much like Raleigh Willoughby, Tommy Payne merely needed to show up to
the track to claim the track championship for the thunder roadster
division. Paul Peeples, Jr. won the roadster dash over Payne, Chris
Sarvinski and Bruce Ziemer. Rob Nelson held off Peeples to take the
heat race win followed by Belinda Ward, Ziemer and Payne. Fergy
Ferguson took the lead at the start of the main event, but after a
brief caution flag and a restart, he could not hold off the faster car
of Peeples as Peeples moved into the lead on lap two. Payne did his
best to try to put pressure on Peeples, but it wasn’t enough for
Peeples to make a mistake as he took the win over Payne, Ferguson,
Ziemer and Ward.
The championship in the sportsman division was still wide-open between
Mic Moulton and Angelo Marcelli. Moulton struck first with the trophy
dash win followed by Joe McDonald, Larry Pries and Marcelli. McDonald
took the heat race victory over Marcelli, Moulton, Jerry Peterson and
Pries. Kenny Demello seized the lead in the main event from his pole
position starting spot but by lap two, McDonald was there to take the
spot away. On lap three, Demello spun between turns three and four.
Marcelli spun to avoid Demello but unfortunately Jimmy Yarberry spun
into Marcelli’s car damaging his front end. Fortunately Marcelli was
able to return to action, unfortunately the track position he lost
diminished his hopes for the sportsman track championship.
After the restart, McDonald pulled away as second place Ken Hallis did
his best to hold off Pries for the second spot. On lap 11, the two
came together with Hallis spinning into the infield bringing out the
yellow. Pries was sent to the rear moving Moulton into second. This
set the stage for a showdown that fans had been waiting for all season
as McDonald and Moulton led the rest of the field to the restart.
Moulton rode in McDonald’s mirror for the duration of the race. With
six laps remaining in the race, the two ran into slower traffic.
McDonald was better able to maneuver through the cars while Moulton
lost a bit of ground. Moulton was able to close the gap but unable to
make the necessary maneuver to take the lead away from McDonald. At
the checkered flag it was McDonald victorious over Moulton, Peterson,
Pries and Hallis. Nevertheless, Moulton’s strong finish was enough
for him to take the sportsman division crown.
Even though the track championships have been decided at the Acres,
the racing season is yet to be over. The annual Fall Spectacular is
still to be run. Joining the real stocks, roadrunners and thunder
roadster cars will be the Northern California Pro-4 Modifieds. The
featured attraction for the weekend will be the 100-lap late model
event. For the first time in several years, the Fall Spectacular will
return to being a two-day event, Saturday September 25th and Sunday
September 26th. Any questions concerning the Fall Spectacular should
be made to Redwood Acres Raceway’s track office at 707-443-2118.

A Tribute to 9/11 brought out the best in human nature and a Championship to Larry Toon
September 11, 2001, a day that will most certainly live in infamy, disgust and sorrow. And, which brought with it, a whole new awakening in our Country. We race this day in remembrance of the 3000 who lost their lives on that fateful morning, and the families they left behind to deal with the most devastating terrorist attack in history on US soil. And, of course, the heroes who rose to the forefront that day brought out the best in human nature and proved what a great Country it is in which we live.
On Saturday, September 11th, Tribute Month continued with Stockton 99 Speedway’s Tribute to 9/11 which featured Street Stocks, Bombers, Basically-4-Cylinders, NCMA Sprint Cars, USAC Ford Focus Midgets in Twin-40’s, and USAC Jr. Ford Focus Midgets.
They never fail to amaze, and on this night the 1200 fans in the stands watched the Street Stocks in amazement as Points Leader Sammy Solari (79) of Escalon notched his tenth win of the year in amazing fashion.
After an invert of six, Garland Tyler (73) of Modesto inherited the point position with Stockton’s own Ben Lewis II grabbing the P2 slot. With green flag waving, Lewis drove hard into turn one to gain the holeshot where he would begin to pull away from his nearest competitors by as much as a straightaway at times. Much to Lewis’ chagrin, at the same time he pulled away, Points Leader Sammy Solari pulled into second and began to chew away at the asphalt separating himself from Lewis. And, as luck would have it, on lap 19, Tyler washed up the track in turn two which brought with it the one and only yellow of the race. On the lap 19 restart, Solari grabbed a huge hunk of forward bite along with the lead where he would continue on, unabated to the checkers, for his tenth win on the year. “I want to thank Joyner Motorsports and all my sponsors, we have the complete and total package with this car,” said the always-confident Solari, then added, “Lewis had a good lead, but he knew we were coming. Then we got that great restart, and here we are. We don’t race for second.” Lewis, again was the bridesmaid, but did have another great race. Atwater’s “Racin” Jason Aguirre continued his solid Season with a podium finish in third. “Rompin” Rich Harper (5) of Stockton, always a threat, finished fourth with Livermore’s Mark Squadritto, after dealing with an evil car all day, still managed to finish in the top five. Barring anything catastrophic, Solari still needs to show up for the green flag and race next week to grab the Crown in this Division. But knowing Solari, he never “settles” for anything but his best effort. Of course, everything hangs on car-count.
The beatem bangem Bombers brought their usual unadulterated excitement to the racing surface. And when the atmosphere calmed on this one, Tom Dahl (003) of Stockton was standing atop the podium with arms outstretched in victory.
This one got real busy, real quick with Stockton’s Jeremy Tucker (051) leading the field to greet the green and the #93x of Tyler Guzman out to the right. J. Tucker was able to lead the first lap only to have it taken away on lap 2 by Points Leader and cousin, Travis Tucker (350), also of Stockton. Once out front, Tucker appeared extremely strong until lap 13 when he finally succumbed to the intense pressure on his back bumper by Stockton’s Tom Dahl (004). Dahl would take charge from that point forward and was never seriously, but was superbly, challenged as he crossed the stripe for his fifth win on the Season. “Robbie (Knittel) is a heck-of-a-driver,” said the soft-spoken Dahl, “I really enjoy racing with him. Everyone out here tonight did a great job.” Lodi’s Robbie Knittel (003) made every effort to challenge Dahl for the lead, but in the end, he would have to settle for second. Travis Tucker, by virtue of his third place finish, need only start the Main Event next week to capture the 2010 Crown in this Division. Stockton’s Mike Massone (007) had another excellent race finishing fourth with Andy Rumsey, driving double-duty once again, completing the top five.
The Basically-4-Cylinders emerged onto the asphalt deck for their tenth time this year. Not to go unnoticed, Points Leader Larry Toon (88) of Modesto took the checkers for his sixth win in what has turned out to be a magnificent Season for the young driver. Coming into this event, Toon held the lead over JD Silva by a mere thirteen points (518-505). Toon’s win tonight would clinch the 2010 Basically-4-Cylinder Championship.
The competition in this one got underway with Stockton drivers Tommy Wood (28) on point and Kelle Bobbitt (61) slotted at P2. Unfortunately, for both drivers, when they came back around to register the first lap, it would be all Toon at the start/finish line where he grabbed the early lead and never looked back as he crossed beneath the checkers, completely unchallenged, for his sixth win of the year, which also brought with it the 2010 Basically-4-Cylinder Championship in quite dominating fashion. “I won that one, right?” asked the very happy Toon, “Sometimes you get so caught-up in the race, you forget where you are. The car was a little slower than normal, but it held up, and it worked; it worked all year.” Stockton’s Andrew Rumsey (101), not through lack of effort, could never quite get to Toon’s back bumper and had to settle for second. Richard Hull (23) of Modesto had another great run finishing on the podium in third. Manteca’s Matt Anderson (5) brought her home with his best-ever finish in fourth while Bobbitt fell off the pace just a bit to finish fifth. Congratulations to Larry Toon for his accomplishments this year at Stockton 99 Speedway.
David Goodwill (3) of Napa made a monumental statement by winning the NCMA Sprint Car’s Main Event. And with the accolades came the extended Points Lead in this Division.
This one got underway with the #10 of Carl Mott and the #15 of Clovis’ Justin Kawahata going off into turn one from the front row. However, by the time they got back to the stripe it would be Patterson’s Steve Amador (6) enjoying three laps on point before being displaced by Rob Hammond (17H) of Morgan Hill who enjoyed three laps on point before being displaced by Modesto’s seventy-two-year old Legend, Ed Amador (76). Amador appeared stout out front, and most likely, strictly unretrievable as he began to yard the field with a fierce battle going on behind him over the number two spot. Unfortunately, the racing Gods must have been frowning when, on lap 23, Kawahata came spinning off turn four and brought with him the first caution period of the race. On the lap 23 restart, David Goodwill performed a magnificent power move low off turn four to lay claim to that much-coveted real estate out front where he would ride it out to the finish by a straightaway for his third win of the year at the Speedway. “It was really a great victory coming from the back,” said the always gracious Goodwill, “The car wasn’t working as well as it usually does. Earlier in the night, the crew made some changes for the Main Event and they really helped.” Ed Amador slipped back a little after leading most of the race, but still managed a great second place finish. Hammond, after showing up on the radar early, faded, but only slightly, to finish on the podium in third. Mott, who started on pole, managed his race nicely and finished in fourth while Steve Amador rounded out the top five.
If you love speed, and surely you do, the USAC Ford Focus Midgets should have completely quenched your thirst for it, especially after watching the stunning Victory by Keegan Walmer of Portland, OR in Twin #1.
This one got up to speed extremely quick with Nick Carlson (60) on pole and Eureka’s Brandon White (11) at his side. Carlson jumped out early, but much to his dismay, on lap 5, Austin Farley (42) of Brighton, CO, decided it was his turn out front as he dove low through three and four to capture that prime real estate ahead of the pack. Once there, despite living through two early cautions, Farley maintained his position in the number one slot over the next twenty-six laps, but at the same time, Keegan Walmer had progressively worked his way through the field until he reached the number two spot where he began to gnaw at Farley’s back bumper, and continued to do so, rather ferociously at times, from lap 20 until lap 31 when Walmer decided to make his well-patented move through three and four and snatch the lead away, which he did in stunning fashion and held on all the way through to the checkers for his first-ever Victory in a Midget. "Wooo! This feels great," Walmer said. "I just want to thank everyone that helps me. I had not won (in the Midgets). It's exciting." Fremont’s Cody Thompson (8), who had started alongside Walmer on the grid, worked his way through the field to finish second. Farley, after appearing to be a powerhouse for most of the race, fell back slightly, but still finished on the podium in third. Madera’s Cody Gerhardt (40) came home in a solid fourth with Bobby Runyan (9) of Denair rounding out the top five.
In the USAC Ford Focus Midgets Twin #2, it was virtually a mirror image of the first with Cody Thompson (8) of Fremont swapping spots with Walmer at the stripe.
Shawn Buckly (7) of Simi Valley got the early jump from the front row, pulling Garrett Peterson (31) of West Sacramento, to his right, along for the ambitious ride. Buckly would hold strong until lap 14, when he and Peterson came together, if only slightly, after fighting over the same piece of property. The skirmish lasted just long enough for Cody Thompson (8) of Fremont to slip by both cars and into the lead. Once there, Thompson would never relinquish his spot as he held on begrudgingly through to the checkers for the very popular victory. Walmer had methodically worked his way through the field, but by time he popped out into second, there simply was not enough laps remaining to do anything with Thompson, so it goes without saying, he settled for second. Cody Gerhardt, completing a wonderful night, would finish on the podium in third. Bobby Runyan, as well, had a great night, finishing this one up in fourth with Nick Carlson making up the top five.
The Young Guns are merely a slightly slower version of the Ford Focus Midgets because of a three-quarter restrictor plate, and younger drivers. But that certainly doesn’t take away from the excitement they produce. Tonight, fourteen-year old Keegan Walmer (24) of Portland, OR would win the gold in this Division in a very matter-of-fact fashion.
Austin Farley (42) of Brighton, CO and Fremont’s Cody Thompson (8) paced the field to green to get this one underway. Farley took the lead coming around to lap 1 where he enjoyed the view through the windshield, but not so much so in the rear-view mirror, which happened to be full of Keegan Walmer, at least until lap 9 when Walmer made an absolutely fantastic move dipping low in turn four and coming out on the other side with the point position. Once there, it was “good night” to the rest of the field as he drove off to the checkers for his fifth Young Gun Victory of the Season. “Hopefully I’m going to run a Grand American Modified next year,” said the young Oregon driver, “And after that hopefully on to NASCAR.” Thompson held tight to finish a close second while Farley slipped just a bit to finish third with Eureka’s Brandon White (11) bringing her home in fourth.

All American Speedway crowns Champions for 2010
Lambert, 2010 Street Stock Champion, McGinnis/Paulson 2010 Bomber Champions at AAS
Special tribute for victims, friends, family, and first responders of 9/11
Roseville, CA - (September 11, 2010) - The final night of regular weekly Saturday night racing at All American Speedway crowned the 2010 Street Stock champion (Chris Lambert), and the 2010 Bomber champion (Jim McGinnis/Chris Paulson) in Roseville on Saturday.
2010 NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model champion Matt Scott broke the track record with a qualifying lap of 13.650, and won the first Twin 44 Late Model race, giving him eight wins for the 2010 season.
The track also paid tribute the to the victims, friends and family members, and first responders of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The Sacramento Ironworkers Local 118 brought a piece of steel from an "I" beam from the World Trade Center Towers which was given to them by the New York Ironworkers Local 40. The Roseville Fire Department brought out their big ladder truck with a handful of firefighters
In the first Twin 44 Late Model race the invert was eight. Chunn and Mawhinney bounced back and forth leading for a few laps while Scott was skillfully making his way through the pack. He and Chunn got together on lap 12 in turn two, but there was no damage done and they both continued. Mawhinney held the lead until lap 22, when Juan Pitta passed him for first. Scott worked his way back up to second and it became a battle for the lead between Pitta and Scott. On a restart on lap 37, Scott took the lead from the outside in turn two and the huge contingent of Matt Scott fans at the track cheered wildly from the stands. Scott went on to take the checkered flag, followed by Pitta, Zane Lovelace, Mawhinney and Chunn.
In Street Stock racing, Mel Wilson led the field at the green, but Byron Gonzales got by him for lap two. Gonzales led until lap 19 when Lambert took over the lead. Mickey Owens was in third and in hot pursuit of Gonzales. Owens passed Gonzales and then took the lead from Lambert on lap 28. Lambert took it back on lap 30. On lap 32, Owens was back leading and took the checkered flag over Lambert by a nose. Lambert and Owens had the fans on their feet racing side-by-side for about 25 laps of the 35-lap race.
Lambert was crowned the 2010 Street Stock champion after the race, but talked more about the great battle between him and Owens during the race. "When I cleared Gonzales, I saw Mick floating right behind Gonzales. I could see him when he cleared Gonzales and I'm thinking, I know him and he's going to try to go on the outside and he did. I'm like, all right, come on, lets do it," Lambert said. "I held him off for about 10 laps and I thought I might be able to keep holding him off. We got in to lapped traffic and Mick was able to get between them for the win. It had to be exciting to watch. That's why we all come here. That's what this [racing] is about." Wilson came in third, Gonzales fourth, and Matt Cockrum fifth.
Dan Jinkerson won the Modified race when it was called on lap 26. Jinkerson led from start to finish in what proved to be a very strong car. "We've been close in the past few races, but this is our first win for the year," Jinkerson said. "Thanks to my family, I am able to do this. They put in a lot of time with me in the shop.” Jinkerson was the 2006 Modified champion at AAS, but took a few years off to do family things and build a new car. "The plan was to come out in the last half of the year and shake the car down and get it ready for next year," he said. It looks like he has a good start for 2011.
The race got crazy on lap 17 when Scott Winters and Jason Philpot made contact down the backstretch spinning Winters. Philpot was sent to the rear. Winters exited the track, but came back on before the green. On a restart on lap 23, Winters and Romano got together on the backstretch and then Josh Brock hit them both, sending a wheel flying off Brock's car down the track. Brock and Winters were done for the night.
Meanwhile on the front stretch, another crash was happening between several cars including David Crouch, Nick Lyons, and Jason Bamberg. Right after that, Nick Bonachea broke and hit the wall on the backstretch, taking Kyle Dickerson with him. Both drivers suffered some injuries and were taken to the hospital by ambulance. Dickerson was complaining of major pain in his stomach and groin, and Bonachea complained of back pain. The track was under red and the race was called on lap 26. Nik Romano came in second, Rick Anderson third, Jason Philpot fourth, and Ryan Peter fifth.
In Bomber racing, Erick Ray won his third Bomber race this year, and Jim McGinnis was crowned the 2010 Bomber champion. Ray led all 30 laps of the race, but had to do some great manuvering to keep Matt Camp from passing him. "It's great to get back to the Winner's Circle," Ray said. "We worked hard on the car and got some new tires and that helped a lot." Ray finished sixth in Bomber points.
McGinnis, who blew a motor last week, didn't finish Saturday's race because of car problems. "It feels great to win the championship," he said. "I blew a motor last week so I had to put in a new motor for this week, and so the car wasn't up to what it usually is. It's been a long time since I won a championship. My last one was in 2000, so it feels really good to get this one."
In the second Twin 44, the invert was four with Mawhinney starting from the pole and Zane Lovelace starting on the outside of row one. Lovelace's car was strong and took the lead on lap one. Scott moved up from third and took the lead on lap nine. Then came some thrilling side-by-side racing between Scott and Lovelace, with Lovelace taking the lead back on lap 17. On lap 34, Scott got the lead again. Scott and Lovelace were racing side-by-side coming out of turn two on lap 37 when they got together and Scott spun. Lovelace's car suffered some front-end damage. On the restart, Scott was in eighth position and Lovelace in 11th. Pitta took the lead with Mawhinney right on his bumper. Pitta was able to hold Mawhinney off and take the checkered flag.
"It feels awesome," Pitta said. "I felt like I kind of got snookered in the first race. Luck was on my side for the second race. God returned a favor. The car was better in the first race. We struggled a little bit in the second race because the car was tight. Matt [Scott] did a good job and he is a hell of a champion." Mawhinney finished second, Cody Hodgson third, Thomas fourth, and Scott fifth.
Scott was disappointed for his team when he didn't win the second Twin 44. "It really should have been two tonight. I feel bad for the team. We kind of got that one taken away from us, but that's racing. You come out here knowing stuff can happen. I can't thank the crew enough."
Next Saturday, September 18, the All American Vintage Classic will be held. There will be NCMA and Legends of the Pacific racing. The following weekend, September 23-25, will be the All American Classic Open Show. On October 16, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West will race at All American, and a 200-lap Enduro Pumpkin Smash race is scheduled for October 30th.
